Conservative business owner turned reality TV star Willie Robertson is being urged by key Republican operatives in Washington to run for an open seat in Congress – but not so fast, he has responded.

The Washington Examiner reports Robertson, star of the smash hit A&E show “Duck Dynasty,” is being urged to run in a special election in September to replace Rep. Rodney Alexander, who has accepted a job in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s cabinet.

Alexander represents the 5th District, including Monroe, La., home to the Robertson family and their game call and hunting companies Duck Commander and Buck Commander.

“I heard today that I was doing that,” Robertson said on Fox News about the rumors he would run for office. Saying the plan was “news to me,” the 41-year-old insisted he was “kind of busy right now.”

“I got a lot going on.”

Robertson is known for being the CEO prankster of the businesses, but also for his business prowess. As chief executive, the self-described “redneck millionaire” built his business into a multimillion corporation.

The comedy stars the bearded Robertson clan as they go about their lives running an outdoor sporting goods business.

“Duck Dynasty” has become a ratings phenomenon, ranking only behind AMC’s hit zombie drama “The Walking Dead” last season among cable series. Last season the series grew 95% in viewers last season, averaging 8.4 million viewers, according to USA Today.

Reports suggest the nine adults and 11 kids that make up the cast of the show received a big boost in compensation for the new season.  The group will earn a sum of $200,000 per episode to be split amongst the clan, Deadline reports. That’s roughly 4 to 5 times more than they made in previous seasons. Negotiations began in early 2013 ending just recently after production had already begun.

Season Four of “Duck Dynasty premieres tonight at 10 p.m. eastern.
