Matt Tommila has been an outstanding golfer on our Golf team for the past three years.
Matt entered into the individual Class I Golf competition with a 37.2 stroke average for 9 holes after competing in all matches throughout the season. After the first day of competition in the rain and wind, Matt was seeded fourteenth. The top 24 golfers continued to another day to determine the champion.
On the 2nd day, Matt shot the lowest score of the day (73 for 18 holes ) in the rain and the cold.
This score allowed Matt to jump 10 opponents and finished 3rd place in Class I only 4 strokes more than the winner.
Last year as a sophomore Matt finished 8th in the state and was named 1st team All State in 2007.
Only 6 Class I players are named to the first team. 2008 All State team hasn’t been made public yet.
Matthew has been an excellent student taking all College Preparatory class andmaintaining a B average .
