Corey Hill is an excellent choice for this award as he has really grown personally during his years at Keene High School.  Corey entered as a freshman never having participated in Nordic Skiing, as he was a runner and a lacrosse player.  Corey’s accomplishments are due to his commitment, dedication, perseverance, and hard work.  He sets his mind to a goal and then goes after it until he has achieved it.  Corey’s accomplishments at KHS are as follows:


During Corey’s freshman year, Corey was:

•A member of the Cross Country Running, Nordic Skiing, and Boy’s JV Lacrosse Teams

•He was recognized as a scholar athlete during his freshman year, achieving a GPA higher than 3.50 in the quarter in which he was an active participant in his respective sport

•Corey is an active participant in our music programs

 

In his sophomore year, Corey achieved the following:

•A member of the Cross Country Running, Nordic Skiing, and Track teams

•Continued to maintain a GPA higher than 3.50, which qualified him as a Scholar Athlete

•Corey continued to be an active participant in our music programs

 

In his junior year Corey had some major accomplishments:

•Corey continued to be a Scholar Athlete achieving a GPA higher than 3.50

•Corey was a member of the Cross Country Running, Nordic Skiing, and Track teams, and captain of both teams

•Corey was awarded the MVP for Cross Country Running

•Corey was the Division I State Champion in Classical and Skate competitions for Nordic Skiing

•Corey was 2nd in Classical and 3rd in Skate at the Meet of Champions for Nordic Skiing

•Corey continued to be an active participant in our music programs

 

As a senior, to date:

•Corey was a member and a Captain of the Varsity Cross Country Running Team, again receiving the MVP award

•Corey was a member and a Captain for the Nordic Ski team, again achieving state recognition as the Division I state champion in the Classical race and the Skate race

•In addition, Corey was also the champion at the Meet of Champions in both Classical and Skate races 

•Corey was once again on target to be a Scholar Athlete with a GPA higher than 3.50

•Corey was recognized at the Awards Ceremony attended by Governor John Lynch for the NHIAA/NHADA Senior Scholar Athletes, which was held in March 2009

•Corey has been an active participant in our music programs, attending an All-State Festival in April

 

As you read through this bio it is easy to understand why Corey was selected to receive this award.  He, along with Cassandra Schmitt, will represent KHS in a way that is proud and positive.  He is an excellent role model for his teammates, classmates, and peers.  Corey has been accepted at both Bates College and Bowdoin College.
