Connor Hyde

Senior at ConVal High School

Male Scholar Athlete / April-May 2009

I would like to nominate Connor Hyde as the WKNE Scholar Athlete. He is an athlete that any coach would want on his team and a student any teacher would want in their classroom. He has been on the tennis team for 4 years, playing as #2 as a freshman, he went 13-1 in the regular season, lost first round in the state tournament.

Since his sophomore year he has played #1, with a regular season record of 39-1, with one win and the one loss against the then #1 player in the state in his sophomore year. He made the semifinals of the state tournament as a sophomore and last year was ranked #1 in the state going into the states. He has been Captain for 3 years and the first 2 time winner of the Daniel Blanchette Award, given to the player who combines athletic ability with sportsmanship and scholarship. He has always tried to do his best in school, making the honor roll but always trying for high honors. He has been a volunteer at the Goffstown YMCA, helping with their tennis program.
