One person dead following Route 12 crash

KEENE, NH- One person has died following a crash on Route 12 in Keene Thursday afternoon.

According to a news release from Keene Police, officers were notified of a two car crash around 2:40 Thursday afternoon in the area of Forge Street on Route 12.

A preliminary investigation of the crash determined that a vehicle heading south had crossed the center line and collided head on with another vehicle heading north, resulting in severe front end damage.

The names of the drivers involved in the crash have not been released, but police said the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator and occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Cheshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

That section of Route 12 was closed for several hours as crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
