KEENE, NH – Route 10 was shut down for a second time this week in West Swanzey due to a motor vehicle crash.
Crews responded to an accident near Gomarlo’s at 6:00 Tuesday morning where according to a news release from New Hampshire State Police, the operator of a 2017 Freightliner Tractor Trailer was pulling onto the roadway when he noticed the trailer had become detached.
The trailer traveled across the turning lane and eventually came to a rest blocking all three lanes of traffic. At that time, a 2013 Mack dump truck traveling northbound collided with the trailer, causing heavy front end damage to the truck.
While both truck drivers were out of the vehicles reporting the incident, a 2012 Ford Escape collided with the back end of the pick up truck. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported from the scene. The SUV and dump truck were both towed away, and the trailer was reattached to the tractor and moved out of the roadway.
According to the release, a roadside inspection revealed that the trailer was not properly connected to the tractor prior to the crash. The trailer and the dump truck were both placed out-of-service due to damage.

Tuesday’s incident was the second in less than 24 hours in that area, after a fatal motor vehicle crash closed the road for more than five hours on Monday.
