KEENE, NH – The Keene SwampBats have postponed this year’s annual July 3rd Independence Eve fireworks gala due to inclement weather.
The celebration has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday July 31st. Tickets for the July 3rd date will be honored on the 31st.
The Bats are planning to move forward with their regularly schedule game on Saturday against the Vermont Mountaineers, weather permitting. Independence Eve tickets will be honored at that game.
SwampBats President Kevin Watterson joined WKBK’s Good Morning program Friday morning and said aside from last year’s COVID-19 related cancellation, the fireworks celebration has never been cancelled.
“The nature of our relationship over the years with Atlas has been if something came about, we always felt that there would maybe there would be wiggle room to find an alternative,” Watterson said. “Over our 15+ years we’ve never cancelled Independence Eve.”
So far on the season the SwampBats are at 12-5, and are currently on a winning streak having won 10 consecutive games, matching an all-time record three times over.
“Believe it or not, we had done that three times previously,” Watterson said. “We did it in ’01, ’05, and ’12, and we did it this year. So four times we’ve won 10 in a row, and I point out to folks, in a 44 game schedule, to win 10 in a row is a phenomenal accomplishment.”
Each game is broadcast live on AM 1220 and FM 102.3 Fox Sports Radio Keene, with pregame starting 10 minutes before first pitch.
