(MyKeeneNow) – Voters in New Hampshire are set to cast their ballots on Tuesday in a primary election featuring key races, including contests for governor, state and federal representatives, and positions on the Executive Council, alongside various local elections. The winners of these races will secure a nomination from their respective political parties and move on to the general election scheduled for Nov. 5.
Here’s a breakdown of the major races:
Governor’s Race
Three Democrats and six Republicans are vying to replace Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, who has served four terms and decided not to run for reelection. The Democratic race is led by N.H. Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington from Concord and former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig.
On the Republican side, former U.S. Senator and Attorney General Kelly Ayotte of Nashua is among the frontrunners, along with Chuck Morse, a former N.H. Senate president from Salem.

2nd Congressional District
In the Republican primary, Vikram Mansharamani of Lincoln and Lily Tang Williams of Weare are among the most prominent of the 13 GOP candidates in the race.
The Democratic primary for New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District is a race between Nashua’s Maggie Goodlander and Concord’s Colin Van Ostern, vying to replace six-term U.S. Representative Annie Kuster, who is stepping down.

Executive Council
Executive Council District 2, covering much of the Monadnock Region, has two Democratic candidates, Lebanon City Councilor Karen Liot Hill and New London business leader Mike Liberty, competing to succeed Cinde Warmington.
On the Republican side, Kim Strathdee from Plymouth, and Mary Rose Deak are in the running. Strathdee has unsuccessfully pursued the position in three previous elections.
Local elections
Several local races are also on the ballot, including the contest for District 1 of the Cheshire County Commission, where Benjamin Tilton of Swanzey is up against James Duffy of Winchester. On the Republican side, Skipper DiBernardo of Swanzey is running unopposed.
In Peterborough, three Democratic candidates are contending for two seats in the N.H. House: Rep. Peter Leishman, seeking his 13th term, Rep. Jonah Wheeler, running for his second, and Ivy Vann, a former four-term House member.
Additionally, in Cheshire County District 18, three Democrats are competing for two seats: Jed Brummer of Rindge, Tom Hsu of Jaffrey, and Hannah Bissex of Rindge. The Republican incumbents, James Qualey of Rindge and Rita Mattson, will advance unopposed to the November general election, barring a write-in campaign.
