Keene radio stations shine at 2024 Granite Mikes Awards

CONCORD, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Two of Monadnock Media Group’s eight radio stations, WKBK, and WKNE; along with its news website, My Keene Now, were among the standout winners at the 2024 Granite Mikes Awards Wednesday evening at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage in Concord. The event, hosted by the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters (NHAB), brought together broadcast media professionals from across the state for a night of recognition, entertainment, and celebration.

The evening featured a business meeting, the election of board members, and a special acknowledgment of the NHAB’s 70th anniversary. NHAB Executive Director Tracy Caruso emceed the event, with live entertainment provided by Newmarket comedian Juston McKinney.

Keene-area stations took home several awards for excellence in broadcasting. Notable winners included:

  • Best Website Radio, First place: Nicole Colson, Saga Communications, My Keene Now
  • Newscast Radio Merit: Abbie Trombly, Saga Communications (WKBK)
  • Local Special Program/Event Radio Merit: Steve Hamel, Saga Communications (WKNE HD) for coverage of the 2024 Keene Swamp Bats season

The Granite Mikes Awards honor excellence in various broadcasting categories, including public affairs programming, feature stories, newscasts, air personalities, morning shows, and public service campaigns. These awards recognize broadcasters for their contributions to local communities, creativity in programming, and efforts in public service.
