KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – Two people involved in a shooting in Keene Sunday are in custody in Massachusetts.

According to a news release from the Keene Police Department, officers responded to the area of 112 Gilsum Street shortly before 4:30 Sunday afternoon on a report of a man with a gunshot wound.

Police were able to identify a suspect vehicle that had fled the scene after the shooting. It was located in Walpole and failed to stop for police prompting a pursuit with multiple law enforcement agencies, before eventually crashing in Bernardston, Massachusetts.

In an update on Monday, Keene Police identified the suspects as Joel Cruz, 31, of Union City, New Jersey, and Luis Nunez Jr, 29, of Jersey City, New Jersey. In the initial release, KPD said there were three people inside the vehicle, but a third suspect was not named in the update.

Both Cruz and Nunez are in custody in Massachusetts pending extradition to New Hampshire. Cruz is charged with First Degree Assault and Reckless Conduct. Nunez is being charged with Accomplice Liability for First Degree Assault and Accomplice Liability for Reckless Conduct, all felonies. Both will appear in the 8th circuit Court in Keene after they are extradited back to New Hampshire.

The victim of the shooting has not been publicly identified, but police did say he drove himself to Cheshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing, anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information should contact Detective Don Lundin or Detective Jen Truman of the Keene Police Department at (603) 357-9813.
